NSP 150 is our “heavy cut” Nano Surface Primer, making it analgous to a compound — yet unlike most compounds, it finishes out beautifully. Sometimes you don’t even need an extra step, like in this paintwork correction on a Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Cabriolet performed by our detailing studio, Simon’s.

Simon’s foreman Christyan and lead detailing technician Jose Luis managed to restore the Ferrari’s paint to near-perfection with nothing but NSP 150, demonstrating just how well this “heavy cut” primer can finish into a gorgeous gloss. In a situation in like this where you’re dealing with older, softer clear coat, however, you want to be sure you’re not removing too much and jeopardizing the health of the paint. That’s why NSP 150 is such a great option when you need heavy scratch removal; its priming technology actually restores clear coat with ceramic material to preserve that base layer of OEM protection.

One thing that you don’t see in this video, however, is the ceramic coating we applied after. It’s very important to follow with this step, since like we mentioned above the clear coat needs to be restored after correction with a protective coating. While NSP 150 restores some of that clear coat, you really need to follow with a professional-grade ceramic coating like Nano-Resin Pro to get the full protection a vehicle needs.

Ceramic coatings don’t just replace the protection of a clear coat, they actually upgrade it. Clear coat is mostly there to provide the least amount of protection necessary to keep the underlying paint layers from corroding or getting scratched or etched. A ceramic coating, on the other hand, goes above and beyond in what it can protect against. Ceramic coatings have hydrophobic properties, meaning they’ll self-clean when exposed to water. They’re also more UV resistant than standard clear coat, so it’ll be even less likely your vehicle will face oxidation (the corrosion we mentioned earlier). They’re also self-healing in some cases, like Nano-Resin Pro.
